El Niño 2026

Activities to anticipate and prepare for these impacts need to begin now. This collection of resources is for governments, humanitarians and others working to anticipate the impacts of El Niño and ensure their activities are coordinated.  

 

The likelihood of a strong El Niño event in mid-2026 is high, with the WMO predicting an 80 per cent likelihood of an event in June–August. This is likely to cause severe humanitarian impacts for the regions at risk.
