Dialogue platforms
Global and regional dialogue platforms provide an interactive, engaging space for our anticipatory action community to thrive. At these events we share and exchange knowledge, best practices and lessons learned to ensure there is a fundamental change within the humanitarian system: from reaction to anticipation.
The Global Dialogue Platform takes place once a year, as do the regional dialogue platforms - in Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America and the Caribbean. These events gather humanitarian actors, meteorologists, climate scientists, national governments and decision-makers to discuss how to improve forecast-based financing and anticipatory action, implement the concept into existing projects, and advance the use of weather and climate data.
Since 2020, the dialogue platforms have been held online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite this, they remained fun and interactive occasions. For example, the live blog for each event captures the main insights from speakers and provides participants with access to recordings of all plenaries and sessions. In 2022, we hosted hybrid events, which took place in person and online:
- 28-30 June - Africa Dialogue Platform, Nairobi, Johannesburg and online
- 28-29 September - Latin America and the Caribbean Dialogue Platform, Antigua, Guatemala / online
- 1-3 November - Asia-Pacific Dialogue Platform, Bangkok / online
- 6-8 December - Global Dialogue Platform, Berlin / online
