Our mission: Facilitating knowledge exchange, learning, guidance and advocacy

Who we are?

Founded in 2020, the Hub is a joint initiative of:

  • The German Red Cross (GRC)
  • The International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC)
  • The Red Cross Red Crescent Climate Centre with funding from Germany’s Federal Foreign Office (GFFO)

Together with over 170 partners – from UN agencies and governments to universities and NGOs – we connect expertise across humanitarian, development, and climate sectors to anticipate, absorb, and adapt to risks before crises occur

Our vision

A world where the impact of disasters are reduced through anticipatory action

The Anticipation Hub envisions a world that has an effective anticipatory humanitarian system which also informs, inspires and supports collaboration across the climate and development sectors to manage risks.

  • Do more

Increasing the accessibility of anticipatory action knowledge to facilitate a collective scaling up of anticipatory action initiatives across more hazards and more geographical areas, to cover more people at risk.

  • Do better

Stimulating knowledge co-creation and innovation in anticipatory action to inspire and enable actors to apply anticipatory action effectively and efficiently in multiple contexts and governance settings.

  • Do it together

Continuously nurturing the anticipatory action community, capturing synergies with other initiatives and facilitating dynamic and vibrant collaboration and exchange.
