Description

The VII Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) in the Americas and the Caribbean will convene, virtually, under the theme, ‘Building Resilient Economies in the Americas and the Caribbean,’ to raise awareness of the increasing economic and human cost of disasters in the Americas and the Caribbean, including the special challenges facing small island developing States (SIDS) and the lessons learned by the COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts. The Seventh Regional Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in the Americas and the Caribbean – RP21 – is hosted by The Government of Jamaica, and co-organized together with the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNDRR) - Regional Office for the Americas and the Caribbean, and the Caribbean Disaster Emergency Management Agency (CDEMA).

In this parallel session, which will take place in the 3rd day of events, participants will discuss Anticipatory and forecast-based social protection systems.
