IGAD Regional Roadmap for Anticipatory Action

Humanitarian needs and losses and damages from various hazards are rising in the eastern Africa region. While multiple anticipatory action initiatives are ongoing in the region, these are implemented by various organizations in a fragmented manner; efforts are not systemized and, while lessons have been generated from pilots in the region, the evidence is not systematically collected and used by all to inform the development and implementation of anticipatory action systems. 

In response to these challenges, IGAD, along with various strategic partners has developed this regional roadmap for anticipatory action, with the vision of "building a coherent regional anticipatory action approach, harmonized and integrated within the national policies and strategies, by promoting anticipation of disasters to enhance climate-resilient communities across the IGAD region".
