Guatemala is exposed to droughts, earthquakes, flooding, hurricanes, landslides and volcanic eruptions. These often have severe impacts on people’s lives and livelihoods, as well as on the country's infrastructure and economic activity.
Anticipatory action has become established as an effective approach to minimizing the impacts of many of these hazards. There have also been efforts to institutionalize this approach within the country, which also hosted the 4th Latin America and the Caribbean Dialogue Platform in 2022.
