Overview

The Regional Technical Group on Anticipatory Action in Latin America and the Caribbean (Grupo Técnico de Acción Anticipatoria en América Latina y el Caribe/ GTAA LAC) is a technical, interagency coordination space that promotes the expansion and consolidation of anticipatory action across the region. Its members include UN agencies, NGOs, Red Cross societies, climate centres and intergovernmental organizations.

The group works to move the region from reactive crisis response to proactive, anticipatory risk management. Members harmonize approaches, pool evidence and mobilize resources to expand anticipatory action in line with global guidance and national priorities, working across five focus areas:

  1. early warning systems and climate services
  2. development and activation of anticipatory action frameworks
  3. institutionalization of anticipatory action
  4. access to flexible financing
  5. joint learning and regional knowledge exchange.

Membership

Membership of the GTAA LAC is voluntary. Members are organizations that implement, or plan to implement, anticipatory action in two or more countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and/or that provide regional technical or financial services supporting anticipatory action across multiple countries.
