Nigeria

Nigeria is exposed to several hazards. Its northern regions have a high annual variation in rainfall, which can result in both droughts and floods. It is also home to one of the world's largest river deltas, the Niger Delta, where the Benue and Niger rivers converge. Other hazards include epidemics, heat waves, landslides and storms. 

Several organizations have frameworks in place to anticipate forecastable hazards. There are also initiatives under way to embed this approach within the country’s disaster risk management infrastructure.
