With diverse geoclimatic conditions found across the country, Ethiopia experiences a wide range of weather- and climate-related hazards, including drought, floods and heat waves. The country is also affected by conflict.
Anticipatory action is taking hold across Ethiopia, with frameworks in place for several of these hazards. The Ethiopian government, along with partners in the country, is also developing national-level frameworks for persistent hazards, such as the framework for drought, which was finalized in 2025.
