Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso is one of the most climate-vulnerable countries in the world. Its people face extreme weather events including chronic droughts, flash floods and high winds, while certain regions are also vulnerable to dust storms, heat waves and insect infestations. Since 2016, Burkina Faso has been riven by intercommunal conflict and armed group attacks, which further decreases people’s capacity to cope with hazards. 

Anticipatory action offers a way to support people ahead of forecastable hazards and Burkina Faso is making significant progress in putting in place the frameworks and systems needed for this approach to flourish.
