Hazards covered by anticipation

  • Disease outbreak / epidemic
  • Drought / dry spell
  • Riverine flood

Among the many hazards afflicting Zimbabwe, the country is particularly prone to droughts and floods. Drought affects the highest number of people, occurring most frequently in the southern and western parts of the country. Floods occur most frequently in low-lying areas, often associated with the path of cyclones hitting southern Africa. Disease outbreaks are another recurring challenge.

Several organizations are working to establish anticipatory action as a way to support those at risk, with several frameworks having been developed for different hazards.
