Hazards covered by anticipation

  • Cyclone / Typhoon / Hurricane
  • Heat Wave

Myanmar is exposed to hazards including cyclones, drought, earthquakes, extreme rainfall, floods, landslides and tsunamis. Disease outbreaks are also a recurring threat for much of the population. The ongoing conflict and fragility in the country compound the impacts, with many people displaced due to the current situation, increasing their vulnerability to hazards.

Anticipatory action has the potential to help build people’s resilience to these hazards. Many organizations in Myanmar are working to establish this approach as a way to support people ahead of forecastable hazards in the country.
