Lesotho

Lesotho experiences a range of climatic hazards each year. It is severely affected by drought, which often leads to food insecurity. The country also experiences heavy snowfall and cold waves, which affect vulnerable highland communities and can prevent humanitarian organizations from reaching those in need of assistance. The population also suffers from floods, frosts, hailstorms and strong winds. 

Anticipatory action offers a way to support at-risk communities and Lesotho has begun to put in place the systems needed to establish this approach.
