Hazards covered by anticipation

People in Afghanistan face many types of hazards. Drought, earthquakes and riverine floods are all risks, while epidemics are a recurring threat. Compounding these is the country’s longstanding fragility, which leaves much of the population with few resources to protect themselves from hazards or to recover afterwards.

Anticipatory action has the potential to increase people’s resilience to these hazards. There are also many humanitarian organizations active in Afghanistan, offering an avenue for this approach to be developed further.
