Lessons learned: anticipating displacement in South Sudan and Burkina Faso
As global displacement continues to rise, there is a pressing need to effectively anticipate it in order to minimize its occurrence and impacts, and support the areas receiving displaced people. The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the few organizations that has implemented programming to test the relevance and accuracy of anticipatory approaches to prevent or reduce the impacts of displacement. This report provides an analysis of two ECHO-funded pilots undertaken by DRC in 2024, in Burkina Faso and South Sudan. It draws on primary and secondary qualitative research to evaluate the pilots’ process and outcomes, and provides an overview of the lessons learned from both pilots.
