Hazards covered by anticipation

  • Cyclone / hurricane / tropical storm / typhoon
  • Flood
  • Multi-hazard

People living in Indonesia are exposed to many hazards, with earthquakes, floods and tsunamis posing the highest threat; they are also at risk from cyclones and landslides. While the impacts of these hazards vary, in many places they lead to the loss of life and damage infrastructure. They can also lead to people being displaced.

Anticipatory action offers a promising way to mitigate the impacts of forecastable hazards. Several organizations in the country are now establishing frameworks for different hazards to cover several of Indonesia’s diverse regions.
