Hazards in Costa Rica include droughts, floods, tropical cyclones and volcanic activity. Earthquakes, landslides and tsunamis also pose a threat to people’s lives and livelihoods.
Anticipatory action is emerging as an approach to help those at risk cope with these hazards. It is part of wider regional efforts to move from reactive disaster response to proactive measures.
