Hazards covered by anticipation
Maldives frequently experiences droughts, floods and heat waves. These are projected to become more frequent and more intense due to climate change. Given its low-lying topography, the country is also at high risk from sea level rise.
Organizations in the country are working to develop frameworks for several forecastable hazards. The government has been actively involved from an early stage in this process, helping to embed anticipatory action within the country’s existing infrastructure for disaster risk management.
