Hazards covered by anticipation
Common hazards in Egypt include dust storms, extreme temperatures and flash floods caused by heavy rainfall. Disease outbreaks and earthquakes can also pose a threat. Egypt is also vulnerable to climate change, due to its heavy dependence on the River Nile for agriculture, industry and power generation.
Anticipatory action offers a way to support at-risk communities, and efforts to establish this approach in the country are under way.
