Security and Humanitarian Impact Analysis in South Kivu
This analysis, conducted by Humanitarian Action for Africa, highlights a rapid deterioration in the security and humanitarian situation in South Kivu, within a context of prolonged conflict and escalating violence in eastern DRC. Since the end of 2025, armed clashes have triggered massive displacement, with more than 500,000 newly displaced people. This dynamic adds to an already critical crisis: as of 31 March, the province had approximately 1.5 million internally displaced persons and 1,579,115 returnees recorded in South Kivu over the past 18 months (as of 31 March 2026).
