FAO Pakistan Drought anticipatory actions

The arid region in Pakistan is prone to agricultural droughts. A shorter than usual wet season and below-average rainfall during the season may easily result in a dire situation for the rural population. The Anticipatory Action Protocol for agricultural drought aims to guide the government and partners to systematically monitor the likely impact of the hazard and use forecast information to trigger specific anticipatory actions, which are designed to safeguard lives and livelihoods.
