The WorldRiskReport 2021, a joint project of the IFHV and “Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft”, was released on 15 September 2021.
This year’s thematic focus is on the topic of social protection: The report introduces different social protection systems in the context of crises and disasters, explains contexts as well as lessons learned, and identifies possible solutions also with respect to the coronavirus crisis. As every year, the annual report includes the WorldRiskIndex, stating the risk of disaster in consequence of extreme natural events for 181 of the world’s countries. On September 15th, the WorldRiskReport 2021was presented to the general public at a press conference with a subsequent panel discussion, in which the authors and experts from science, politics and practice discussed the relevance of different social protection measures for disaster risk reduction.
