Training the trainers in Asia-Pacific
The Asia-Pacific Technical Working Group on Anticipatory Action recently led a three-day course on 'Anticipatory Action: Training of Trainers' in Bangkok, Thailand.
Bringing together over 30 participants from 13 countries, alongside the 10 facilitators, this aimed to ensure that partners across the Asia-Pacific region – from National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, the UN, NGOs, international NGOs and governments – speak with a 'unified voice' when delivering training on anticipatory action to governments and humanitarian partners in their respective countries. This in turn will lead to greater clarity and synchronicity when explaining the anticipatory action approach, rather than the fragmented or differing ideas that have often been shared to date.
During the training, the facilitators asked some of the participants how they would apply their news skills and knowledge once back in their own countries. One of the participants Mariano Ana Lopes from the Civil Protection Authority in Timor-Leste, shared his thoughts about the training.
