Locally Led Anticipatory Cash Workshops series

The workshop series on Locally-Led Anticipatory Cash is a platform for wider discussion to promote locally-led action, learning and dissemination, showcasing research, programming, guidance, tools and perspective.

The workshops are run jointly between the Anticipatory Cash Working Group , the Locally-Led Anticipatory Action Working Group (both hosted by Anticipation Hub), the Global CVA & LLR Working Group and the Group Cash Transfer Working Group (both hosted by CALP).

The overarching objective of the workshop series is to strengthen buy-in among stakeholders that the use of cash transfers in anticipatory action in various contexts is possible, imperative to meet basic needs and alleviate suffering of the population prior to a crisis and should be locally-led.

First workshop: unpacking Locally-Led anticipatory Cash

Early July was the first workshop of the series on Locally-Led Anticipatory Cash, to engage meaningful discussion about the intersection of Locally-Led and Anticipatory Cash, showcase its importance and allow identification of gaps and potential added values, with members of the four working groups.

The agenda of this first workshop:

  1. Welcome and introduction of the various Working Group co-leads
  2. Scene-setting:
  3. Discussion:
    • in break-out rooms: define the needs and expectation of the members
    • in plenary, definition of common interest, intentions, pain-points and opportunities
  4. Next steps and wrap-up

You can find the recording of the first part of the meeting (in English below) and download the presentation in English, Arabic, French or Spanish

A one page summary of the discussion will be available soon. For now, find key points from the groups on the Padlet. Feel free to add your thoughts too!

After this first “unpacking of the concepts”, each workshop will showcase quickly some case studies, providing concrete examples of the intersection between LLR and AA.  These updates will focus on anticipatory cash as far as possible, with a learning spotlight on precise activation. Then the members will dive into group exercises to better understand interest, intention, pain points, and opportunities. It will be followed by a plenary discussion with Q&A on hot points only.

The next workshop to continue the discussion will be held in early October.
