Feasibility assessment on Forecast-based Action in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar

Myanmar is exposed and vulnerable to various hydro-meteorological hazards which cause serious humanitarian impacts and consequences. To reduce the loss and damage from the hazards requires a shift from disaster response toward forecast based early actions, including innovative instruments, such as the use of Shock Responsive Social Protection measures to increase the resilience of people and communities. This feasibility study, done as part of an ECHO project, looks at existing work and consortia (Red Cross and UN organizations), different hazards and concludes with road map and recommendations for moving forward with forecast-based action in Myanmar.
