Monsoon Pilot 2024: Digital & Blockchain Technologies in Anticipatory Action
In September 2024, the readiness stage was activated for the Babai and Karnali River Basins in Nepal, indicating a potential flood. This triggered the implementation of anticipatory actions in Bardiya and Kailali districts. Recognizing the need for enhanced efficiency, transparency and accountability during this critical period – when swift coordination and communication among multiple stakeholders is essential – the Danish Red Cross, the Nepal Red Cross Society and tech partner Rumsan collaborated to develop Rahat, a digital application designed to facilitate timely and effective actions. The application was successfully tested during the activation, and this case study documents the main lessons.
