IGAD Regional Roadmap for Anticipatory Action

Humanitarian needs and losses and damages from various hazards are rising in the eastern Africa region. While multiple anticipatory action initiatives are ongoing in the region, these are implemented by various organizations, and in a fragmented way. And, while lessons have been generated from pilot projects in the region, the lessons and evidence from these are not systematically collected and used to inform the development and implementation of additional systems.

In response to these challenges, IGAD and various strategic partners developed the IGAD Regional Roadmap for Anticipatory Action, which aims to build a coherent regional anticipatory action approach, one that is harmonized and integrated within the region's national policies and strategies.
