Anticipatory action pilot in Ethiopia: process learning on partnership and design

This presentation offers insights from the anticipatory action pilot in Ethiopia, activated in December 2020 and April 2021. Findings indicate strong coordination between implementors and a transparent design process. There remains need for greater ground-level input to ensure anticipatory action is not experienced as a ‘top down’ initiative, to inform operational feasibility, and to facilitate community engagement. The pilot also revealed enthusiasm for further developing anticipatory programming and integrating it within the humanitarian system.
