Building resilience to climate risks through social protection: from individualised models to systemic transformation

This article examines the role of social protection systems in bolstering resilience to climate shocks and hazards. Through case studies of Ethiopia, Kenya and Uganda, the authors argue that social protection is key to help families and communities absorbe negative impacts and bounce back, and that these systems also increase national capacity to anticipate disaster more effectively by linking social protection mechanisms to early warning early action systems.
