The State of Anticipatory Action in 2026 in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2025, anticipatory action in Latin America and the Caribbean consolidated its shift from piloting to institutionalized practice. As of March 2026, the region has 45 active anticipatory action frameworks (and 55 under development), compared to 39 recorded a year earlier, representing a 15 per cent increase. The number of countries with anticipatory action activities rose from 19 to 22, and pre-arranged funding reached 37.8 million US dollars, a 20 per cent increase compared to 2025.
