Anticipatory Action Plan for Drought Bay, Bakool: Somalia

This plan, by WAHAFA partners Plan International and READO, shows how anticipatory action supports drought-affected communities in the Bay and Bakool regions of Somalia to act before severe drought impacts unfold. This locally led anticipatory action plan (AAP) combines seasonal forecasts, food security projections, drought indicators and community observations to trigger timely, pre-agreed actions across food security, WASH, protection, education and risk communication. Developed with communities, government authorities and humanitarian partners, the AAP aims to reduce expected drought impacts, with a particular focus on internally displaced people and other vulnerable groups. The mechanism enables the activation of the AAP and the release of pre-agreed finance from the WAHAFA fuel funding.
