Pre-crisis assessment of monsoon flooding in Bangladesh

Each year, Bangladesh faces the recurring threat of monsoon flooding, exacerbated by the impact of climate change. The country's geographical location and deltaic characteristics make it highly vulnerable to devastating monsoon floods, disrupting development and plunging a significant portion of the population into a precarious cycle of vulnerability and poverty.

The Humanitarian Coordination Task Team (HCTT), in collaboration with the Asia-Pacific Regional Cash Working Group (RCWG), Start Fund Bangladesh (SCB), and Red Cross Red Crescent (RCRC) Movement, undertook the pre-crisis analysis to assess people’s perceptions and programmatic aspects related to monsoon flooding. The primary objective of this analysis was to gather insights and support to develop an anticipatory action and response Cash+ package.
