A new guide and toolkit to support locally led anticipatory action

Diakonie Katastrophenhilfe, together with the Global Network of Civil Society Organisations for Disaster Reduction and its local partners and members, have launched the Locally Led Anticipatory Action Guide and Toolkit.

Locally led anticipatory action is integral to strengthening locally led, risk-informed approaches to disaster management. It also contributes to increased coherence between local- and higher-level planning processes for disaster and crisis preparedness.

This guide, and its 14 downloadable tools, aim to support civil society organizations as they engage with communities, as well as other actors and structures, at the local level to develop initiatives for locally led anticipatory action. They will also support efforts to plan and establish local mechanisms for anticipatory action. More broadly, they aim to support efforts to increase the scale of locally led anticipatory action, including through collaboration with mandated, technical and donor agencies.

The guide and toolkit are available in English, French, Portuguese and Spanish.

For more information on locally led anticipatory action, contact the working group on this theme (forthcoming).
