The Zambia Technical Working Group on Anticipatory Action is a coordination forum chaired by Government of Zambia through DMMU - Disaster Mitigation and Management Unit with the objective to align and reflect on Anticipatory Actions in the country.

Pretrigger is met in July when the ECMWF NDJ average Nino3.4 index>=0.5K. It is monitored by ZMD, Link
Trigger 1 is met in October when the ECMWF SEAS5 (seasonal forecast) forecasts a below average precipitation (45% and above). It is monitored by ZMD, Link
Trigger 2 is met in March-April when the Ministry of Agriculture CFSI projects 40% and above losses in the current season

When ZMD recorded more than 21 days of no rain higher than 1 mm during the period DJFM by
AWARE from MoA and CGIAR
The AWARE platform of CGIAR’s initiative on Climate Resilience strengthens the links between early warning for early action and early finance. The platform disseminates information on climate, market, health, nutrition, and population displacement.
