Global and National FOREWARN
WHAT IS GLOBAL FOREWARN?
The Global FOREWARN community is a multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder network of aid professionals, humanitarians, academics and risk experts. Hazard-specific open meetings are held quarterly to share learning and discuss challenges and solutions relating to early action work.
The Global FOREWARN expert pool is a group of researchers, academics, and scientists, organised into thematic subgroups which are aligned to their areas of expertise. Members provide specific advice to anticipatory projects led by Start Network members, including Start Fund alerts and forecasting tools. The group themes include heatwaves, cold snaps, landslides, flooding, disease outbreaks and food security. The Global FOREWARN expert programme is currently being refreshed and more information about benefits to members will be available soon.

The Global FOREWARN Community is open to anyone who works in the field of anticipatory action. The Global FOREWARN expert programme is under review, and will open to academics and researchers working in the field of anticipatory action in 2022.

WHAT IS NATIONAL FOREWARN?
The National FOREWARN projects are multi-disciplinary, multi-stakeholder networks of aid professionals, humanitarians, academics and risk experts, organised to support early action in the way that most makes sense in the local context.
Since 2019, Bangladesh, Madagascar, Pakistan, and the Philippines have established national FOREWARN projects. Through these projects, Start Network members can engage hazard experts in collaborative anticipation work. All National FOREWARN projects are hosted by Start Network members.
