Anticipatory action has been firmly established in the humanitarian system and governments are increasingly integrating it into in their systems. There is growing evidence that it protects lives and livelihoods, reduces humanitarian impacts, saves money and preserves people's dignity. Against an outlook of a future with constrained humanitarian funds, how can we collectively ensure that the systems we have built persist and that anticipatory action can continue to scale up? How can we use funds even more efficiently? How can we bring more actors, from across the climate, development and private sectors, on board? What is needed for governments and local actors to sustain anticipatory action on their own?
