Description

The very first Eastern Africa Dialogue Platform on Anticipatory Humanitarian Action, happening from 1 to 3 October 2024, aims to take stock of the progress in anticipatory action in the region, generate shared lessons, and propose priorities for policy, practice and finance to support the mainstreaming of anticipatory action in the region. It also aims to deliver concise recommendations and actions for various actors to coordinate and partner effectively in order to implement anticipatory action in the region.

The dialogue platform will provide a space for discussing region-specific issues, sharing best practices, and developing strategies tailored to the unique challenges facing the region. It will also support efforts to deepen and mainstream anticipatory action initiatives into government, humanitarian and development frameworks that are specific to eastern Africa.

The event represents a strategic opportunity to advance anticipatory action in the region. By addressing region-specific challenges, sharing best practices, and developing collaborative strategies, it will enhance the impact and integration of initiatives across the region. The outcomes of the event will align and identify key issues that are specific to eastern Africa and linked to the Global Dialogue Platform, and contribute to the broader goal of building resilient, proactive communities capable of anticipating and mitigating the impacts of various hazards.
