Equipment provided through the pilot project is stored in disaster management centres, which are located near the safe centres (evacuation centres). As well as tools and safety clothing, these pre-positioned items include cooking utensils – enough to prepare meals for 500 people – as well as loudspeakers, fire extinguishers and torches.

This disaster management centre is on the Mayfield Estate, near Nuwara Eliya.
